Last year, Connecticut welcomed 1,032 refugees. In the first three months of the federal fiscal year–prior to the second Trump Administration–Colorado welcomed 217. Following the Administration’s suspension, arrivals have decreased significantly.
Declines in refugee arrivals over the next four years will permanently damage Connecticut’s resettlement program. During the last Trump Administration, almost 40% of local resettlement offices closed. All 4 of Connecticut’s resettlement offices are at risk of pausing programs, laying off staff, or closing altogether.
