Last year, Idaho welcomed 786 refugees. This year, Idaho is on track to welcome only 453–over 40% fewer refugees. Most of these refugees were resettled before the Trump Administration took office. Following the Administration’s initial suspension of resettlement, Idaho has only welcomed 67 refugees.
As a result of decreases in arrivals and funding, one of Idaho’s three resettlement offices will be unable to resettle refugees next year.
Episcopal Migration Ministries, which operates 15 of America’s 360 resettlement offices, has been forced to withdraw from the U.S. Refugee Admissions Program. The Agency for New Americans in Boise is one of those offices.
Donating to the Agency for New Americans can help position this office to resume resettlement should the federal landscape change.
