Louisiana’s two resettlement agencies, Catholic Charities Baton Rouge and Catholic Charities New Orleans–will not resettle refugees after October.
Declines in arrivals and federal funding have forced the U.S. Conference of Catholic Bishops–which oversees 60 of U.S.’s 360 resettlement offices–to withdraw from the U.S. Refugee Admissions Program this fall. Both of Louisiana’s offices are impacted by this withdrawal.
Donating to these offices can help position these agencies to resume resettlement should the federal landscape change.
